For many families, you’ve probably just finished your Thanksgiving celebrations, and perhaps, you’re also getting ready for future family gatherings for the winter holidays. It’s great to get together with the people we love for the holidays, but when we have large gatherings, it can take a toll on our houses. One way houses can get affected during large gatherings is by having the walls get dirtied and scuffed up. This will require some painting and repairing to get your walls back to normal. When repairing and painting your scratched wall, here is what you will want to do.

Get the Area Cleaned Up

If any area of your house is damaged, a good first step is to clean the area. If you try to paint on a wall that is still dirty and dusty, you’re not going to get a good result. The paint will likely not stick to the wall’s surface as easily. When cleaning the walls, you don’t need to use heavy-duty cleaners for the job. Some mild soap and lukewarm water is all you’ll need to get the walls spruced up. Just apply the soapy water to the walls by using a soft cloth, and you’ll be fine.

Repairing the Damage

Unfortunately, not all damage to your walls could be mild. If the damage is more severe, possibly leaving some sort of dent behind, you’ll have to use spackling paste to repair the damage before painting can begin. Use sandpaper to gently sand the walls down, and then use a putty knife to apply the paste compound, using a damp cloth to wipe down the surface afterward.

Give the surface sufficient time to dry. Then, as the final step, sand the wall once more so that the spackled spot flushes in nicely with the remaining areas of your wall.

Prime

If you want to get ideal blending, you should use primer on damaged walls before you reapply the original color. The primer should always be confined to the spot where damage occurred.

Painting

You want to have the exact same color of paint as the damaged area of your wall so that the paint seamlessly blends with the surrounding parts of your wall when you’re done. If you have older paint, find an inconspicuous area to test it out before you put it on the rest of your wall. In addition, you don’t want to put too much paint in one spot because the surface will become uneven. Lastly, a small brush is the ideal tool for the job, and you might even want to go with an artist’s brush if you have an exceptionally small scratch to repair.

So great to work with. Have had the pleasure of working with both sons who were knowledgeable and courteous. The entire process was easy from estimate to completion of my new deck. Both arrived on time, had my estimate for both deck and basement remodel in a couple of days. Danny, the project manager arrived on time and explained the plans, the work crew were amazing. Old deck demolished and beautiful new composite in its place in less than 2 days. Tiffany, the office manager is prompt in responding to all emails with courteous knowledgeable answers. They make you feel like you are their only customer. Look forward to working with them for my basement remodel. I 100% recommend this company.

We needed a fence as fast as possible for 5 rescue dogs that we took on. Albaugh and Sons was able to provide a great quote and a speedy installation. My wife and I love the new fence. It has literally improved our day to day lives by being able to let the dogs run free in the back. The materials were perfect and high quality. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I hired Albaugh and Sons to tear out our old deck and replace it with a new composite deck/ screened porch. The front office was a pleasure to deal with and kept my wife and I informed on everything. The crew did an amazing job every step of the way. I was especially impressed with their finish work. The attention to detail was impressive! What I also liked Albaugh and Sons is they had a project manager (Danny) who would occasionally pop over and answer questions and would also keep me updated on progress. I would highly recommend hiring Albaugh and Sons for any of your fence/ deck / home improvement needs.

We are very pleased with the work done by Albaugh and sons. We had them replace our side porch and they did excellent work and built it to our request. Also had them install a three tier rail fence around our property. It is excellent and looks great. We thank Danny and his deck crew and George and his fence crew for their excellent work. I recommend them for any projects you need done. Thank you very much!!
