Summer is coming to an end, and the leaves are starting to drop off the trees. Before we know it, snow will be covering our yards in a thick, frigid blanket. That’s why you want to prepare for winter while you still can. For aluminum fences, winter can be tough on them. They serve as a protective measure for your house, and can also boost curb appeal. You want to take proper care of your aluminum fence. Take a look at these aluminum fencing maintenance tips for fall.

Start Performing Inspections

You want to be sure you’re inspecting your aluminum fencing. Pick a day when there is plenty of natural light and a day when you have plenty of time to spare. You want to look for any damage to your fence, such as chipped paint, rust, or any dislodged posts. Also, keep an eye on the surrounding area of your fence. If there is pooling water by your aluminum fencing, vegetation, or any overhanging branches, those could pose as threats to your fence. Address all of the problems you find once you’ve identified them.

Paint Chips & Rust

Any chipping, rusting, or peeling on your aluminum fencing can be a significant problem. To handle these problems, you’ll want to sand your fence down. After that, apply a primer and paint. Each of these should be resistant to rust.

Damaged or Dislodged Posts

If you see any damage or discover your posts are dislodged out of the ground, call for professional help so they can fix the problem for you. Leaving aluminum fencing with dislodged posts lowers the aesthetic appeal and can even lower the monetary value of your home if you want to sell one day.

Loose Earth Or Dips

Loose earth and dips that are near your aluminum fencing could signal pooling water near your fence posts. Water can rust and rot your fence if you don’t address the problem quickly. You can remedy the issue by packing dirt around your posts. This helps keep your posts from getting loose or getting dislodged. You want to be sure the ground is level and steady. It also shouldn’t be loosely packed.

Vegetation

Various forms of vegetation prove hazardous against your aluminum fencing, including trees and shrubs. Branches can fall on your fence, while other types of vegetation can create acids that break down your fence little by little. Make sure that all of your vegetation is trimmed enough that it doesn’t pose a threat to your fence.

So great to work with. Have had the pleasure of working with both sons who were knowledgeable and courteous. The entire process was easy from estimate to completion of my new deck. Both arrived on time, had my estimate for both deck and basement remodel in a couple of days. Danny, the project manager arrived on time and explained the plans, the work crew were amazing. Old deck demolished and beautiful new composite in its place in less than 2 days. Tiffany, the office manager is prompt in responding to all emails with courteous knowledgeable answers. They make you feel like you are their only customer. Look forward to working with them for my basement remodel. I 100% recommend this company.

I called yesterday about a few items that have come apart such as the pvc outside corners on the rim/ band board etc. The company was very responsive and ready and eager to help. We needed a fence as fast as possible for 5 rescue dogs that we took on. Albaugh and Sons was able to provide a great quote and a speedy installation. My wife and I love the new fence. It has literally improved our day to day lives by being able to let the dogs run free in the back. The materials were perfect and high quality. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I hired Albaugh and Sons to tear out our old deck and replace it with a new composite deck/ screened porch. The front office was a pleasure to deal with and kept my wife and I informed on everything. The crew did an amazing job every step of the way. I was especially impressed with their finish work. The attention to detail was impressive! What I also liked Albaugh and Sons is they had a project manager (Danny) who would occasionally pop over and answer questions and would also keep me updated on progress. I would highly recommend hiring Albaugh and Sons for any of your fence/ deck / home improvement needs.

We are very pleased with the work done by Albaugh and sons. We had them replace our side porch and they did excellent work and built it to our request. Also had them install a three tier rail fence around our property. It is excellent and looks great. We thank Danny and his deck crew and George and his fence crew for their excellent work. I recommend them for any projects you need done. Thank you very much!!
